Weathering
Finnish photography- and performance artist Soile Voima and French/Norwegian based dancer/choreographer Orfee Schuijt are working on a site-specific performance and a photographic series presented as intertwined mediums.
The project explores myths, folklore and fables as vehicles for performative and photographic material. We incrust performative bodies in the environments we visit. As a way to be with a space that we cannot fully grasp. We look for events where the ordinary and otherworldly can exist side by side. Building a multi-layer habitat of past, future and personal experiences; a kind of witch-craft. Working in interaction with natural environments (weather conditions, living beings encountered) and in site-specific locations in diverse nordic regions, the project assembles a habitat of photography, text, moving image, and performative actions.
The project started in Hammerfest with a three week residency. With the support of the Nordic Regional (net)working and Daavi art center. Photographs credits; Soile Voima and Orfee Schuijt
